Tidbyt alternative
The Tidbyt alternative built for the market.
Tidbyt stopped making new devices after joining Modal in late 2024. If yours was mostly a stock or crypto watcher, Deskcast is the upgrade: four times the pixels, the day’s chart, the whole trading day — and it’s still being made.
Join the waitlistWhy Deskcast
- 4× the pixels: 128 × 64 against 64 × 32
- Room for the price, the intraday chart and a countdown to the bell at once
- Pre-market and after-hours, marked on screen
- Still being made, and updated with signed over-the-air releases
Deskcast vs Tidbyt
| Deskcast | Tidbyt | |
|---|---|---|
| Buy one new | Waitlist open, founding discount when orders open (Deskcast ahead) | No new devices since the Modal acquisition |
| Display | 128 × 64 RGB LEDs, 2 mm pitch (Deskcast ahead) | 64 × 32 RGB LEDs |
| Intraday chart | Yes, the whole day on screen | Depends on the app |
| Trading hours | Pre-market, session and after-hours, marked on screen | Depends on the app |
| Setup | From a phone browser, no app to install (Deskcast ahead) | Tidbyt mobile app |
| What it shows | One stock, ETF or crypto, held on screen | Rotating apps: clock, weather, sports, stocks |
| Refresh | As often as every 15 seconds | Depends on the app |
When Tidbyt might still suit you: Tidbyt’s app catalogue — clocks, weather, scores — is broader. If you want a little of everything rather than the market done properly, a second-hand Tidbyt may still suit you.
Tidbyt details are from its public pages, checked October 2026, and may have changed.
